What is Strength Consortium?

Strength training is foundational to every fitness goal and athletic discipline. But most people don’t get involved in a strength training regimen, even though doing so can help improve fat loss efforts, boost athletic performance, and increase daily functionality. So why don’t people start strength training? Click the title of this post to read more.

If you have found yourself wanting to get into strength training but didn’t out of fear of injury, or you simply want a more principled approach to training from an experienced staff, Strength Consortium can help!

If you’re reading this, you may be wondering what Strength Consortium, and this blog, are all about. First, our full business name is Strength Consortium Cooperative, Inc. We are a collective board worker-cooperative. This means that our business is structured such that everyone who works here also owns the business, everyone who owns the business is also a board member, and each board member — and by consequence of the last point each worker-owner — has one vote in the decision-making process. This means that we are owned and controlled in a direct democratic process by everyone involved. It also means that we are committed to the Cooperative Identity, Values, and the 7 Cooperative Principles which you can read about here.

We offer a number of services, but we are primarily focused on strength training, and our coaches have expertise and experience primarily in the sport of weightlifting, both in competing and coaching, as well as adjacent fields such as general fitness, nutrition consulting, sport preparedness, and many others. We offer our services in 1-on-1 (in person, remote, or hybrid) and small group settings, and also offer single consultations and open gym training opportunities. Our mission is to empower others and enrich their lives through well-designed strength, fitness, and nutrition coaching in an inclusive and supportive community.

As a company we are committed to the open source movement. As such, a part of our mission is to put out as much high quality information as possible for free to the public. This is where our blog comes into play. We wish to use this blog, as well as other media, to give sound advice to all that seek to find it from experienced professionals and accomplished athletes, and we want to do so without having to put it behind a paywall. This is where we need your help to keep us going! Email us at info@strengthconsortium.com and/or check back here periodically to find out more about the materials we will put out. If you would like to contribute to this cause, we will have options for you to give money to support these services in the near future.

We will also be putting out a regular newsletter soon where you can receive regular updates about what we are doing. We look forward to bringing you premium content that helps you improve your life and the lives of others around you.
